We have the ocean as our classroom, and it’s full of marine creatures and their environment that need our help! We are happy to announce that every time a mermaid or merman becomes certified with Moffitt’s Mermaids, a portion of their certification goes towards a conservation fund based on where Moffitt’s Mermaids is currently located.

We Are Supporting Hawaiian Monk Seals!
We are currently donating to the non-profit organization called Hawaiian Monk Seal Preservation Ohana (HMSPO), where their sole mission is to give back, educate, and help the Hawaiian Monk Seals in Hawaii.
Read below to learn why we love this organization and how you can help protect our seal-friends to!
Their Mission statement explains that “HMSPO is the only organization on Oahu whose sole mission is to protect and preserve the critically endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal species.” They’re helping to preserve the Hawaiian monk seals and their population numbers rise away from endangerment.
They are VERY education-based where they have partnered with local schools, at local Hawaiian events and festivals with the general public on Oahu, and with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) on educating everyone on Hawaiian Monk Seals and why it’s so important that we take care of them.
You can donate even if you aren’t doing a certification with Moffitt’s Mermaids and just want to help the Hawaiian Monk Seals.
If you see a HMS on the beach DO NOT approach or touch it! Give the HMS at least 150ft of space!! Please call the NOAA Marine Wildlife Hotline: (888) 256-9840 they will be able to send out trained professionals to set up proper barriers to help keep wildlife and people from endangering the HMS.
If you see a HMS being harassed in any way please report monk seal harassment to NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement at 1-800-853-1964 so the officials can take care of it and you won’t be putting yourself in any unsafe situations.
